Weight Loss Update
by Trey
So I’ve recently began getting really serious about dropping weight. Last year I was denied an increase on my life insurance and it really hit me in the head, but things happened and stress took over and I never did anything about it really.
Last month stress really took control of me and everyone around me was suffering. I decided to finally do something about it. Made an appointment with my PCP and he suggested trying out a prescription at least through the holidays as it’s a time of high stress, especially with what’s happened with my life around this time recently. Unloading stress has really helped me cut way back on food and soda. I’m drinking more water and eating less at meal time and trying to be a bit more healthy at the same time, working in more fruit and veggies.
Over the last few weeks I’ve made great progress and am really excited to keep up the progress. I’m hoping to start walking as it gets warmer as I just *hate* the cold. I started at an extremely unhealthy 354 lbs (49.4 BMI according to this calculator) and as of this morning I’m down 26 lbs (7.34%) to 328 lbs (45.7 BMI). The fact that I’m below 330 lbs is awesome to me, I haven’t been below that since at least early 2007 that I can remember. I set an initial goal of 10% of my weight and I’m well on my way, I’m hoping to be down a lot more in 6 months, not sure about a number right now.

Hey man,
Congrats on the awesome progress, especially so early on. I am fighting a bit of a battle myself, as I was 160 when I got out of the Marines in 05, and am now a startling 240ish. Guess that’s what happens when you keep drinking and stop running.
In a bit of the same boat as you actually, except instead of cold (stupid Florida) I don’t have time because of work, school at night, and a pregnant wife! I hope to get back to running eventually, although I know even getting back to a mile at a time wil be a challenge… which hurts, because I used to run 8-10 at a time.
Stick with it man, I’ll be following your progress too.

I’m eventually going to start running, not sure about what weight I’ll start it at though. I will start walking as soon as I can and work up to several miles at a time. I really wish the area I am in was more pedestrian friendly. I’m hoping that by blogging about this it’ll give me a sense of accountability and encourage me to get it done.
We both need to walk and we need to walk Yeti more so he’s not out of breath when we do walk him. I’m so proud of your success so far!
